What's In A Name?
At the last community center meeting, we decided to start tackling the most critical and devisive issue we will ever have to face: what to name the community center. There are currently two schools of thought regarding this: Give it a conservative name that appeals to people in the neighborhood or give it a radical name that appeals to activist scenesters. I guess it's really more a question of demographics. Who are we trying to appeal to? Who are we trying to get involved? It's a tough question to figure out. Here are some of the name ideas so far:
The Black Cat Infoshop
Ross Winn Community Center (named after Middle Tennessee's most notable anarchist)
Adora Dupree Community Center (named after a local activist who died of cancer recently)
East End Infoshop (or whatever neighborhood it ends up being located in)
The Circle A (parody of 'Circle K' in case you live in Halifax and don't get the reference)
The Casbah
Nashville's Progressive Community Center
Tennessee Reforming Arts Center (parody of the Tennessee Performing Arts Center)
Temporary Autonomous Zone
Permanent Autonomous Zone
5 Point of Light (if it's located in Five Points)
The Firebrand Infoshop (named after Ross Winn's turn-of-the-century anarchist newspaper)
East Nashville Community Infoshop
Freddie's Funnelcake Emporium (offered by Freddie of course)
